S2 Course Choice

Towards the end of S2 pupils will make their course choices for going into S3. Pupils may take as many or as little social subjects as the please/ as the timetable allows. However, class teachers will often make recommendations based of a young persons performance throughout S1 and S2 in each of the three social subjects. The subject(s) that a young person makes going into S3 will be the subject(s) they sit their National 4 or National 5 qualifications in when they get to S4. We always recommend taking the social subject they enjoy the most!

Religious, Moral & Philosophical Studies

Pupils get one period of 'core' RMPS each week from S1 through to S4. RMPS is a statutory requirement in Scotland as the Scottish Government believes it makes an important contribution to the development of young people. Scotland is a diverse nation whose people hold a wide range of beliefs. RMPS enables young people to explore the world’s major religions as well as philosophy and different moral issues to develop their own beliefs and values. At Glenwood we aim to provide a broad range of topics for investigation. Engaging in discussions on these subjects at home will be invaluable to learners as will staying abreast of current affairs.

Our resident RMPS teacher (for all year groups) is Mrs Crosbie. Get in touch with Mrs Crosbie using her GLOW email below:
